BA (Hons) Graphic Design: Visual Communications prepares you for contemporary professional practice, where strong ideas, a multi-disciplinary approach and an open and flexible attitude are the keys to successful and creative problem solving. You explore how the medium and the message interact and produce versatile, idea-driven solutions.
Key study topics include:
- Introduction: awareness of contemporary practice in graphic design
- Graphic design: storytelling – sequence, scale and structure
- Visual communication: metaphor, signs and symbols
- Information graphics
- The editorial process: exploring magazine design
- Electives: explore another discipline e.g. photography, printmaking, animation, illustration
- Discovering your voice: investigating the designer as author
- Defining your practice: personal design and motivation project
- Live projects including the D&AD Student Awards
- Portfolio and career development.
