Creative careers case studies
We have caught up with a few recent graduates to find out about the type of work they have been doing since their graduation and how UCA helped them to build their creative careers:
Sian Bostwick
Sian started her career studying BA (Hons) Silversmithing, Goldsmithing & Jewellery at UCA Rochester. After graduating in 2009, she set up her own jewellery business.
Teodosi Nikolov
Teodosi started what has already become a distinguished architectural career studying BA (Hons) Interior Architecture at UCA Rochester, followed by an MA in 3D Design, also at UCA Rochester, before gaining a Graduate Diploma in Architecture at UCA Canterbury.
Sally King
Sally studied BA (Hons) Illustration, graduating in 2009. On graduating, Sally undertook a work placement at Elstree Studios, she then worked in a variety of roles before hearing about a vacancy as Assistant Art Director on BBC prime-time show EastEnders. After working hard as an assistant, Sally was promoted to Art Director.
Hanna-Marie Hutchison
Since graduating from BA (Hons) Fashion and MA Professional Fashion Practice from UCA Epsom, Hanna-Marie has designed dresses for celebrity clientele, including X Factor judge Cheryl Cole, and is currently growing her business and her fashion range.
Will McGregor
After graduating from BA (Hons) Digital Film & Screen Arts at UCA Farnham in 2010, Will began working as a freelance director, producing a range of corporate videos, including book trailers for Walker Books UK and promos for the Glastonbury Music Festival.
Ben Slow
After graduating from the Fine Art degree at UCA Canterbury in 2006, Ben moved to London where he was exposed to street art on a large scale for the first time.
Mark McGough
Mark McGough began his design career studying BA (Hons) Graphic Design at UCA Epsom. In his second year, he started to source freelance work by walking around the streets of Epsom and Wimbledon with his portfolio. In his final year, he launched Nano magazine, a showcase magazine for the students of UCA Epsom.
Naomi Hiscoe
On graduating from the Fashion Design degree at UCA Rochester in 2004, Naomi was offered a full-time fashion design position at Discovery Group, which was one of the companies she had visited for work experience. Within a fortnight of finishing university, she was flying across the world to live out her dream.
