Pauline Tambling
Pauline Tambling is Managing Director of the National Skills Academy for Creative & Cultural Skills which was formed in April 2009 and is a national network of theatre and live music employers working with 20 founder further education colleges to deliver entry routes, apprenticeships and professional development opportunities. Pauline was Chief Operating Officer for Creative & Cultural Skills, the sector skills council.
She was employed at Arts Council England in five senior roles between 1998 and 2007 where she set up programmes like Creative Partnerships and led the merger programme with the 10 regional arts boards.
She was a teacher from 1976 to 1983 and Head of Education at the Royal Opera House from 1983 to 1997. She has an MA from Leeds University. Her publications include: Performing Arts in the Primary School (Blackwell 1990); Orchestral Education Programmes; Intents and Purposes; and various academic articles. She has also written for BBC Television.
Her non-executive roles include Chair of Shape, one of the country's leading disability arts organisations which aims to improve access to the arts for deaf and disabled people. She is a member of the Clore Leadership Programme Strategy Board and a Board member of Shakespeare Schools Festival. Previous voluntary roles include being on the advisory board of the academic journal Cultural Trends and patient representative on the Arts for a Teaching and Healing Environment Committee at St George's Hospital, South London.
