Working while studying in the UK

Relaxing in town, Rochester

Getting a part-time job whilst studying in the UK will enrich your experiences as an overseas student.

Working in the UK will allow you to develop your English language skills and make a great addition to your CV. It's also a great way to meet new people and experience another side of British life.

Before looking for a job, you should find out about your entitlement to work in the UK. Detailed information can be found on the UK Border Agency (UKBA) website.

As an international student, you may be permitted to work for a maximum number of hours per week during term-time. However to get the right balance of work/study/social life, we recommend that you only take on part-time work for a maximum of 15 hours per week.

The UCA Careers Service can provide support and information if you wish to find a part-time job. For more information, please see Working while at UCA.
