UCA praised in OFSTED report
A recent OFSTED report has declared that the University for the Creative Arts' (UCA) promotion of equality and diversity across its five campuses in Canterbury, Epsom, Farnham, Maidstone and Rochester is "outstanding."
The report, which focuses on UCA's Further Education (FE) courses, was composed after several days of visits to each of the campuses. UCA secured an overall rating of "good" with 'Equality and Diversity' achieving the grade of "outstanding."
The inspection took the form of group and individual interviews to gain the views of learners. There were also observations of learning sessions and assessments.
The report reads: "Students have very good opportunities to discover the professional art world through the excellent networks the university has both nationally and internationally, and the many practising artists and designers amongst the staff who share their expertise effectively.
"Managers and staff have created a culture of trust leading to high expectations for students and an atmosphere where experimentation and creativity flourish. Tutors and staff are proud to work at the university."
Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Mark Hunt, said: "At UCA we are extremely proud of our FE provision which gives students a solid grounding in the creative arts. We are delighted with the inspection outcome."
