The University has a dedicated Learning & Organisational Development (L&OD) team who work with staff and managers to ensure that development opportunities are capitalised upon, using innovative and creative techniques. They also support the development of approaches and initiatives designed to improve colleague engagement and wellbeing.

In our journey to create a culture of continuous learning we have established the following key areas to help increase and maximise development and continue to embed it into everyone’s day to day practice. This approach is based on the understanding that experiences and context are critical to learning, improved performance and change.

• Learning through working, reflecting, changing and adapting.
• Feedback from colleagues, coaching, mentoring relationships and seminars.
• Development events face to face / virtual / eLearning / Conferences.

The L&OD team are able to provide support to managers and staff across UCA to facilitate the exploration and embedding of these approaches.

Health, safety & wellbeing

• We aim to provide a safe and healthy environment for everyone in our community
• We offer health & safety inductions and ongoing training delivered in-house and in collaboration with external training providers. Training includes first aid, mental health first aid, manual handling, personal safety and fire warden training
• We provide a range of services to support physical and mental health and wellbeing, including a free and confidential Employee Assistance Programme and a wellbeing app
• We hold regular wellbeing webinars and offer a range of resources to support you.
